Joule
Copper Vented Grade 2 Cylinders are similar to Grade 3 cylinders only they are manufactured using heavier material in both the body and ends of the cylidner. This heavier material allows them to operate in conditions where a head height is greater than 9.6m. The cylinders must still be plumbed into an openvented plumbing system similar to the Vented Grade 3 cylinders.Available Sizes
The cylinders are available in any size and configuration between 20"-72" high and diameters between 12"-24" wide not including insulation thickness. The cylinders can be manufactured with any number of heating coils requried.
When & Where Should They Be Used

The Joule Copper Vented Grade 2 Cylinders are suitable to use in most traditional plumbing systems. The cylinder is ideally designed to operate in a plumbing system where your cold water storage tank is more than 9.6 meters above the level of your copper cylinder. The cold water storage tank must feed the cylinder without the use of pump before the cylinder. It is possible to put the hot and cold water supplies but only after the water has passed through the cylinder. The cylinder is not designed with Joule's unqiue solar coil and are therefore not suitable to be used with a solar system. The cylinder must be suituated below the level of your cold water storage tank.
Advantages of Joule Copper Vented Grade 2 Cylinders
- Our cylidners are manufactured from superior quality materials and thicker sheets of copper.
- Our advanced manufacturing processes start with the precise puching of the copper sheet using a state of the art robotic punching machine which ensures accuracy and quality of punch. This helps to ensure that the pipr connections are always in the same place whether the cylinder was made today or in ten years time. The quality of the punch ensures that the joint between the tapping and the sheet is uniform and long life seal.
- Our robotic welders seal the body of the sheet. The robotis welders ensure a consitancy of quality of the weld which is unsurpassed.
- Our state of the art insulating machine with its carosel, water
curtain and robotic dispensing arm ensures that an even distribution of
insulating foam is applied.
Engineering Specification
The cylinder must be manufactured to withstand one bar operating pressure in an open vented plumbing system. The cylinder must be manufactured to the relevant standard, Direct cylinders to BS 1566, Indirect cylinders to BS 1566, Combination cylinders to BS 3198 both indirect and direct, Economy 7 cylinders both to BS 1566, and BS 3198. The cylinder must be new part L compliant. The cylidner must be insulated using factory applied green insulation. The coils if required must be 28mm gravity with 1" male bosses. The seals between the coil bosses and body of cylinder must be from chemical compound. The feed and expansion must be 28mm female tappings. The cylinder must come complete with an alluminium anode factory fitted. The cylidner must have an additional 22mm femal tapping on dome for additional hot water draw off. The cylinder shall come complete with individual serial number and barcode printed on label. It should also come with commissioning certificate which shall be completed by installer after installation. The cylinder shall be delviered boxed and sealed to ensure no damage before installation.
