What Are They
Copper Un-Vented Cylidners are high quality, high pressure cylinders that are manufactured from copper. The cylinder comes finished in a sleak wipe clean outer casing. The cylinder looks like our range of stainless steel high pressure cylidners.

When & Where Should They Be Used

  • Copper Un-Vented Cylinders should be used in pressurised plumbing systems which are either mains or pump fed.
  • Copper cylinders offer unique advantages over stainless steel in hard water areas. In some hard water conditions copper will last longer than stainless steel will. It is possible to manufacture the cylinder with an alluminium anode that will help the cylinder withstand attack from hardwater.
  • Joule Copper Un-Vented Cylinders are a high quality vessel employing the best in technology. The Joule cylinder can be manufactured to work specifically in conjunction with a heat pump only or a solar thermal system and additional input from a heat pump.

Whats Different About Using a Heat Pump to Heat Your Cylidner
The fundamental difference between a heat pump and a traditional heating system such as oil or gas fired boilers is that the heat pump system operates at its most efficient when it is delviering low flow and return temperatures. If a heat pump is connected to a standard cylinder coil when the cylidner calls on the heat pump to raise its temperature the heat pump will not be able to dissapate enough heat and the return temperature will be too close to its flow temperature and the unit will automatically shut off until the cylidner calls it back on. This will result it a heat pump switching on and off continously. Joule have developed this unique heat pump coil that ensures superior operating conditions for your heatpump.
